Edgar Prib is back at SpVgg Greuther Fürth after ten years. The 33-year-old midfielder, without a club since the end of his contract with the Turkish second division club Manisa FK at the end of June, strengthens the second team of the “Cloverleaf” in the Bavarian Regional League. In addition, Prib will take on “various tasks” in the youth performance center with a view to his career after his career, as the Franks announced.
“Eddy knows the club really well through his past, now he is getting to know other facets here and gaining experience off the pitch. On the pitch he should lead the way with his leadership qualities, which he had already demonstrated in the Bundesliga, and thereby support our young players in their development,” said Björn Schlicke, sports director of the Fürth NLZ. Prib himself said: “I’m really happy to be back at the club I love and am looking forward to my new tasks at Kleeblatt. On the one hand, I want to help make my new, young teammates in the U23 better. On the other hand, I am excited about the tasks in the youth academy and am sure that I can learn a lot from it.”
Prib left his training club for Hannover 96 in 2013 for 2.5 million euros. He previously played 110 times for the Fürth professionals (10 goals/19 assists), including in the Bundesliga in 2012/13. After Hanover, he moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf for two years and finally moved abroad to Manisa for the first time in 2022. He was successful three times in 25 games for the Turks.
