Two great musicals inspired by two ‘bestsellers’, ‘El tiempo entre costuras’ by María Dueñas and ‘The never-ending story’, by Michael Ende, can be seen at the Teatro Apolo this season. The first will only be from September 14 to October 27. The second, will season from November 22. The cast in Barcelona will have two new actresses as Sira: Cristina Picos, who was Mary in ‘El Médico’ and Alba Cuarteto, who in ‘The Neverending Story’ played the Childish Empress. The action, as the millions of readers of what was Dueñas’ first ‘bestseller’ know, takes place between the 1930s and 1940s in Madrid, Tangier, Tetouan and Lisbon (without the need to raise and lower the curtain!). The wardrobe, how could it be otherwise, is especially careful, with designs by Marieta Calderón and Lorenzo Caprille to dress Sira, a simple Spanish seamstress who goes to Morocco for love and ends up becoming a famous designer and spy. Her character has a whopping 27 costume changes.
