“Special added value”: HSV signs Albert Grönbaek
The second new addition to the HSV One thing is certain: Albert Grönbaek will remain a “red pants” after his loan spell. The 25-year-old Dane is moving permanently from French first division club Stade Rennes to Hamburg, as the club announced on Friday. Instead of 23, Grönbaek will wear jersey number 11 in the future.
There were words of praise from Claus Costa: “Albert quickly showed during his time with us what special added value he can add to our game,” said the HSV sports director. “At the same time, with his way of playing football and his personality, he quickly took on an important place in our team as a person.”
Grönbaek said he was “overjoyed” to be able to stay at HSV. “I’m overjoyed that I can stay at HSV. It feels fantastic. That’s everything I wanted.” In seven appearances he scored one goal and two assists.
HSV loan canceled: Bayern finally gives up professional
In the first half of the season, Daniel Peretz was still under contract with HSV. On loan from FC Bayern Munich, the German-Israeli goalkeeper was supposed to assert himself in the Bundesliga in Hamburg. But Peretz failed in the competition against Daniel Heuer Fernandes and only played twice in the DFB Cup. Bayern canceled the loan in the winter and passed the 25-year-old on to Southampton FC.
Things went much better for the English second division team: Peretz immediately established himself as a regular goalkeeper. He will no longer return to Munich; both clubs have agreed on a permanent transfer. Peretz gets a four-year contract. The transfer fee should be around four million euros.
Is everything happening quickly now? HSV striker before farewell
After five years, Robert Glatzel’s time at HSV seems to be over. The 32-year-old is about to move to VfL Wolfsburg. Glatzel will receive a two-year contract with the Bundesliga relegated team, reports “Bild”. The “Kicker” and the “Abendblatt” had previously reported on the “Wolves’” interest in the HSV striker.
An agreement between the clubs is still pending. The transfer fee could end up being around 1.5 million euros. An initial offer of less than one million euros is said to have been too little for HSV.
Glatzel is considered a crowd favorite among HSV fans. Since 2021, the 32-year-old has appeared in 150 competitive games for Hamburg, in which he scored 84 goals and 22 assists. Robert Glatzel lost his regular place last season. Injuries also meant he only played 21 competitive games (four goals, two assists).
