For fans of Linkin Park there is an exciting side attraction at Rock am Ring on Friday (June 5th). The band, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary at the Nürburgring, is bringing its own museum with it. It offers an exclusive insight into the history of the group, which significantly shaped the alternative rock and nu metal era with albums like “Hybrid Theory” and “Meteora” as well as songs like “In The End” and “Numb”.

Exclusive images: What to see at the Linkin Park Museum

ROLLING STONE had the opportunity to visit the Linkin Park Museum in the Mercedes-AMG Lounge in advance. For example, guitars that were played on tour and in music videos are on display.

Also included: Mike Shinoda’s first keyboard controller. “It was the centerpiece of my computer setup when I was teaching myself to write and produce,” is what we learn about the piece on display. The songs from “Hybrid Theory”, including the songs “Crawling” and “In the End”, were also created with this.

In addition, a vinyl with samples of Joe Hahn’s live scratching is on display – as is his camcorder, which was used to film “Frat Party at the Pankake Festival”. The film also shows the band behind the scenes at the beginning of their career.

What’s also special is that the band brought two microphones with them, which were used by Shinoda and his then bandmate Chester Bennington from 2010 and until 2017.

As a special extra, there is also exclusive racing merchandise that is only available in the Linkin Park Museum at Rock am Ring.

After Linkin Park’s return to the big stages, the museum will be an emotional stopover for many before the headlining set. This is especially true for those fans who grew up with the band and can now experience at the Nürburgring how the band’s history continues to be written with a new line-up with singer Emily Armstrong.

How do you get in?

First of all, the bad news: As a festival visitor, it’s unfortunately not possible to just walk in and look around. The museum is exclusively reserved for members of the official Linkin Park fan club “Linkin Park Underground” (LPU for short). A total of 1,000 paying LPU members were drawn and have already been informed about their individual timeslot for the museum.

Now comes the but: Registration for the fan club is also possible at short notice on Friday on the festival site – and does not necessarily have to be paid. So all you have to do is choose the free membership. After the official timeslots, other fans can be notified, as the operator of the museum ROLLING STONE announced. So it’s worth checking your emails every now and then in order to get on the waiting list with a bit of luck.

There was another spontaneous way for Rock am Ring visitors to gain access in advance: The band provided 15 x 2 tickets so that some festival goers without fan club membership could also experience the museum.
