Third game, third win: The German U21 handball players made it into the main round at their home world championship with a clean sheet.

At the end of the preliminary round, the team of national coach Martin Heuberger won against Algeria in Hanover with 33:22 (16:12) and as a group winner without losing points now has the best chances in the fight for the quarter-finals.

Tim Freihöfer from Füchsen Berlin was the most successful German thrower with six goals on Friday evening in front of 3,600 spectators. The DHB selection had previously clearly defeated Libya (35:14) and Tunisia (46:31).

Now against France and Croatia

The German team, which travels from Hanover to the main round venue of Magdeburg on Saturday morning, is considered the favorite for gold. It would be the third World Cup title for the German U21 after 2009 and 2011.

In the second phase of the tournament, in which Germany started with 2-0 points, the team around captain Renars Uscins will first meet defending champions France on Sunday and Croatia on Monday (both 8:30 p.m.). Only the top two in the four main round groups qualify for the quarter-finals, which take place in Berlin on Thursday. The medal games will also be held in the capital on July 2nd.
