FC Volendam rewards talent Rob Tol with first contract

Volendammer Rob Tol can now call himself a professional football player. The 19-year-old defender signed a one-year contract with an option for another year at FC Volendam. Last season Tol played 25 duels in the second division for the promising team from the fishing village.

“I have been wearing the FC Volendam shirt for ten years and that makes it extra special that I am now a contract player,” Rob Tol said on the FC Volendam site. “This is a nice step in the right direction and I am fully committed to achieving my next goals.”

University study

It did not yet come to a debut in the main force for Tol, but he was twice part of the match selection of head coach Wim Jonk. In the future, technical director Jasper van Leeuwen expects a lot from the talented defender. “Rob has developed excellently in the relative lee. Despite a particularly challenging weekly program, partly due to a tough university study, we see a boy who can muster the energy to become stronger, faster and better on the ball. We are curious to see where Rob’s ceiling is down.”
