HSV threatens to leave Heuer Fernandes

After Hamburger SV missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga, a top performer is about to leave. HSV goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes has apparently aroused the interest of a top club.

As the “Hamburger Morgenpost” reports, Sporting CP from Portugal is interested in signing Heuer Fernandes.

At the club from Lisbon, the 30-year-old should boost the competition with the now 36-year-old Antonio Adan.

According to the report, there is also interest in Heuer Fernandes from the Bundesliga. However, the tabloid did not reveal which clubs were involved.

Heuer Fernandes’ contract with Hamburger SV is only dated until 2024. A financial injection from billionaire Klaus-Michael Kühne should make an extension possible.

At an extraordinary general meeting on Tuesday morning, the shareholders of HSV Fußball AG gave their approval for a so-called convertible debt shift in the amount of 30 million euros. According to “Bild”, the term should run until 2028, the interest rate is therefore 3.5 percent.

According to “Hamburger Abendblatt”, the contract talks between the HSV managers and Heuer Fernandes are already underway. But the outcome is still completely open.

Heuer Fernandes was born in Bochum, but has Portuguese citizenship. He once played six international matches for Portugal’s U21 national team.

Heuer Fernandes switched from SC Darmstadt 98 to Hamburger SV in the summer of 2019. The Rothosen paid 1.3 million euros for the goalkeeper.

Since then, Heuer Fernandes has appeared in 104 competitive games for HSV. In the past season, the veteran played 33 games in the 2nd Bundesliga. Only in the 1-1 draw against 1. FC Kaiserslautern was he absent due to a gastrointestinal infection.
