The Barcelonan left the door open to a return that allows him to fulfill his dream of succeeding as a culé

Víctor Barberá said goodbye to Barça yesterday with an emotional video through his official Instagram account. The striker’s contract expires on June 30 and it has been more than two months since he informed the Blaugrana club of his decision not to accept the renewal offer that he had presented.

Barberá leaves Barça after three seasons in which he has demonstrated his facility with the goal. Not in vain has he finished as Barça Atlètic’s top scorer level with Estanis Pedrola and Luismi Cruz, despite not having participated in the last eleven games for the Blaugrana subsidiary. The man from Barcelona has also been Juvenil’s top scorer in the Youth League, with 7 goals. And last year he signed 22 goals in 26 games with Juvenil A.

In his farewell video, the forward shows his thanks to Barça and expresses his desire to return one day. Although he does not confirm that he will play for Bruges, along with fellow ex-Blaugrana Ferran Juglà, he slips that the next stage in his career will be outside his hometown, Barcelona.

“Since I was little I always dreamed of being a footballer, playing in the elite, succeeding in my city’s team and reaching the top”, a Barberá begins by saying, satisfied with his time at ‘Can Barça’: “This stage has been very exciting, I have enjoyed every moment“.

The striker regrets not giving continuity to his time as a blaugrana, but he hopes that this step he is now taking will help him to return: “However, not all dreams come true and sometimes we have to wait. Now I have to take another path, the one that I consider will bring me closer to my goal.”

Having said this, Barberá thanked all the people he has met in his three years at Barça: “The coaching staff, staff, workers, all of you who have been part of this beautiful stage, thank you very much. I especially want to thank my colleagues for all their support.“.

He also had a special memory for his family and friends: “Dad, mom, thank you for your love for your teachings and for instilling in me values that have helped me up to now. To my friends, thank you always for your unconditional support. I have I’m very lucky to have you by my side.”

Barberá concludes his message with a “Thank you, Barça. Fins aviat, Barcelona”.

Barberá began as a starter in Rafa Márquez’s line-ups despite still being in youth. But he suddenly went to the bench, against Murcia, on March 5. He continued as a substitute against Nàstic. After regaining ownership against Real Unión, he disappeared from the squad, including those of Juvenil, with whom he only played in the quarterfinals of the Youth League, unable to avoid elimination at the hands of AZ Alkmaar (0-3).

His disappearance coincided with his refusal to accept the renewal offer presented to him by the club, a decision that also removed him from the first team for the benefit of Ángel Alarcón.
