The two-time figure skating Olympic champion Katarina Witt would have taken the European champion Kamila Valieva, who was only conditionally admitted to the Olympic women’s decision after a positive doping test, out of the competition.
“I would have taken her out of purgatory and put her on the plane home. The pressure on her is immense,” said the four-time world champion on “ARD”.
After the short program, 15-year-old Valieva will be the leader in the freestyle decision on Thursday.
