Nordstrom appoints Cathy Smith to the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
She will take up her new position on May 29th. Smith succeeds interim CFO Michael Maher, the US retail group Nordstrom Inc. announced on Thursday. Maher informed the company that he was leaving to “devote himself to other opportunities”. He will remain with the company until mid-June to ensure a smooth transition.
Smith will be responsible for financial planning and analysis, accounting, tax, internal audit, treasury, investor relations and strategic sourcing. She comes to Nordstrom from the US health insurer Bright Health Group, where she has served as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer since 2020. Before that, she was chief financial officer at the US retail group Target Corporation.
“Cathy Smith is a proven and respected leader with more than 30 years of financial management experience,” said Nordstrom CEO Erik Nordstrom. “With her impressive track record of driving business results across blue chip brands and her extensive experience in navigating a complex retail environment, we are confident that she will be an excellent addition to our team and help us achieve our growth priorities.”
