Former DFB youth international Gökhan Gül has found a new club and is moving to a top division for the first time in his career. From the Turkish second division club Genclerbirligi Ankara it goes on to Süper Lig club Kasimpasa. The clubs involved reported this to the Turkish association TFF.
In Ankara, Gül had impressed as a regular player in the past year and a half and increased his market value to his personal high of 400,000 euros. The central defender, who can also play in defensive midfield, scored nine goals and two assists in 53 games. In Germany, the right footer, born in Castrop-Rauxel, made his debut for VfL Bochum in the 2nd Bundesliga in 2016. He then played for Fortuna Düsseldorf and on loan at SV Wehen Wiesbaden.
For the time being, Gül has to be patient for his first assignment for the new club. Due to the earthquake disaster in Turkey and Syria, the Turkish association has suspended league operations for the time being. The plan is to resume play on March 3rd and 4th.
