Between those who have already made it clear that they want to leave and those who would like clarity in the plan which does not exist at the moment, the Rossoneri squad could find itself deprived of its pillars. And replacing them wouldn’t be easy
Escape from Carnago. Which perhaps sounds a little less suggestive than a Hollywood title, but could become an increasingly believable film. Carnago, for the most distracted Rossoneri fans, is – together with Cassano Magnago and Cairate – the municipality where Milanello is located. And escape is a real risk for several players in the Rossoneri squad. Not necessarily those whose contracts are expiring. A plot that could become reality if something doesn’t happen quickly (but it still might not be enough). By “something” we mean the reconstitution of the sporting and financial area, or the engine of any football club. At the moment, however, Milan in terms of management is an empty box, a situation that causes perplexity and confusion in the players and in those who look after their interests. Not only are the managers responsible for managing the squad and the transfer market missing, but also someone who can give a broad general direction. Emptiness usually breeds chaos, and chaos is not the best way to retain players. Especially the most important ones. We are talking about four names in particular: Maignan, Modric, Rabiot and Leao. Situations, scenarios and expectations different from each other, but with a risk that unites them: all four could leave in the same summer.
involution
—
In short, the revolution could concern not only the management and the coach, but also the team. With very important farewells because in this case we are talking about showcase players. Complicated to replace if necessary. Just take Leao as an example. The story with Milan is over, this is clear to everyone, Rafa has been involved for some time and a separation would be good for both parties. But, having said all this, a significant void would be created up front on the left. Leao was one of the cornerstones of the Rossoneri’s recent years, however he brought 80 goals and 65 assists in almost three hundred games. He has always been the cover man, the one around whom the rest was designed. From the attack we then move on to the opposite side of the pitch, because the latest rumors concern Maignan. In theory, of all four, he should be the one most protected from rumors and temptations, because he signed a renewal until 2031 a few months ago. The practice, however, tells of a possible return of the flame from Juve, who had already tried to seduce him a year ago when his autograph on the contract was not yet there. For the moment we are at the level of hypothetical scenarios, but this is already indicative: if the Rossoneri corporate situation were normal, it probably wouldn’t be a topic of discussion. Maignan is one of the most important and influential players in the dressing room: his departure would convey further negative messages.
situations

Modric also has this duality: on the one hand the indisputable contribution on the pitch, on the other a sort of “guarantor” role. In other words: his presence is already a security in itself, because Luka doesn’t choose teams at random. Obviously the failure of the sporting project, the coach’s farewell and the absence of managerial fixed points put him in the worst conditions in view of a decision for next season: the Croatian has not yet decided but the balance, as the days pass, does not tip towards optimism. And next to him, on the pitch, in theory there should be Rabiot. Here we are talking about an even different situation because the Frenchman said yes to Milan essentially to reunite with Allegri, and logic leads one to think that the will has not changed. Of course, there is a contract with Milan until 2028 involved, but would it make sense to keep a player who is reluctant and who no longer sees sufficient basis to stay? Maignan, Modric, Rabiot and Leao: three out of four departments affected by potential, very heavy farewells that would be difficult to remedy if they actually all arrived together. The ball is in the Rossoneri owners’ court: Cardinale also deals with business related to the film industry, and he has the task of changing that “Escape from Carnago” into a more captivating title.
