Cross-country skiing Olympic champion Victoria Carl has left the Tour de Ski.

According to the German Ski Association (DSV), after her fall in the pursuit race on Wednesday, there were no serious knee injuries, but the 27-year-old will end the tour early.

“The left knee is irritated and overstretched, serious injuries to the meniscus or ligaments could be ruled out using MRI,” said DSV team doctor Tom Kastner on Thursday.

According to the association, the injury will be treated with physiotherapy. Carl, who was 39th after four of seven races, will probably be able to start training again in a few days after a short training break.
