Your Christmas cards for the elderly in Zoetermeer: ’Heartwarming and happy faces’

Every year we organize a Christmas card campaign at indebuurt Zoetermeer for the more than 500 residents of Welthuis in Zoetermeer. After our call, the mailbox filled up again with colorful and sometimes handmade cards, crafts and small gifts.

Divided over seven locations, the elderly in Zoetermeer received heartwarming cards for Christmas. Wendy de Rooij-Honselaar of Welthuis says: “It was such a nice sight to see all those happy faces.”

From crafts to beautiful texts

At two Palet Welzijn locations (in Zet Bijdorplaan and Zanzibarplein) there were two indebuurt Christmas card boxes where people from Zoetermeer could hand in their cards. With the help of volunteers, all Christmas cards were collected, counted and distributed among the residents. “We saw beautiful drawings and crafts from primary school students, homemade cards and beautiful handwritten texts,” says Wendy.

Touching moment

One thing is certain: your Christmas cards are appreciated! Not only by the recipients, but also by the employees of Welthuis. “We are so happy that Zoetermeer residents are doing their best to send a card for our elderly,” says Wendy. “I was at one of our locations for the distribution of the Christmas cards. There was a new resident who was having a bit of a hard time finding her way at her new home address. I took it aside for a while and delighted her with a card. She immediately felt a little better.”

On behalf of Welthuis, Palet Welzijn, inZet and indebuurt: Thank you Zoetermeerders and Merry Christmas!
