Union Berlin’s coach Urs Fischer expects his team to make a brave showing in the Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund.
“I don’t want to evaluate where the pressure is higher,” said Fischer about the unusual starting position before the game on Sunday (5:30 p.m. / DAZN) in the stadium at the Alte Försterei. The Irons are four points ahead of BVB, who are fourth, as the table leaders.
“Both teams go out on the field to win. We’re playing at home. We’ll do everything we can to win this game. Once again, that requires an extraordinary performance from us. We have to push ourselves to the limit again,” stressed the 56 year old Swiss.
Union unbeaten in ten games in their own stadium
In terms of personnel, Fischer has no shortcomings to complain about. After the 1-0 win in the Europa League against Malmö FF on Thursday evening, Union has two days less time to regenerate than Dortmund, who played against Sevilla (1-1) in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
“For me, the most important component is the attitude to the next task. I believe that the mental aspect plays a role. You can convince yourself after two games that you’re tired,” said Fischer.
In the Bundesliga, Union has been unbeaten in ten games in their own stadium. The last defeat was in February at 0:3 against BVB. “We didn’t explicitly mention that it was the last game that was lost. You have to get our quality onto the pitch to have a chance of winning the game, you can’t dwell on the past, said fisherman.
