Moto GP: who is the favorite at Philippe Island according to the bookmakers?

Third to last race of the season, Bagnaia will start from third position on the grid: this is the Grand Prix seen by the operators

There will be 27 laps all to be experienced, those at Philippe Island. Starting in front of everyone will be Jorge Martin, on Ducati Pramac: the 24-year-old Spaniard is in his seventh pole position of his career, the third this season after the one in Qatar and in the GP of the Americas. Not only that: Martin has set the new track record (1: 27.767), which previously belonged to Jorge Lorenzo (in 2013).

Super Ducati

Ducati returns to bring a rider to pole position at Philippe Island 12 years after the last time, when Casey Stoner started in front of everyone and won the Grand Prix, the Emilian manufacturer’s latest success on this circuit. For Ducati this is the 14th pole position of the season, a new record in a single Moto GP season. The other team driver, Pecco Bagnaia, will start from the third position: for the 11th time this season, the Italian driver will start from the front row. It is the 38th time in a row that at least one Ducati exponent has been in the front row.

Fight

Marc Marquez will start between Martin and Bagnaia, in second position: the Honda rider has started from the front row at Philippe Island since 2013 and was just 13 thousandths behind Martin. While the leader of the World Championship, Fabio Quartararo, will start from the fifth position: the Yamaha rider does not win from the German GP and for the seventh consecutive time he is out of the front row. Fourth Aleix Espargaro: for Aprila this is the best qualifying result on this circuit since 2000, with the pole position conquered by Jeremy McWilliams at the time.

The ranking

Eyes on Quartararo and Bagnaia, for the world head-to-head: the Frenchman leads the standings with 219 points, Pecco is immediately behind at 217. In third place is Espargaro with 199 points, then Enea Bastianini at 180 (15th in qualifying) and Jack Miller at 179 (he will start 8th on the grid).
