Serafijn P. from Eindhoven gets two years in prison for organizing drug smuggling and money laundering. And he gets a fine and community service. That was also what the public prosecutor had in mind, after consultation with P. and his lawyer. P. was a bodyguard for pop musician and actor Lil Kleine.
Serafijn P. (48) from Eindhoven secured the popular rapper Lil Kleine, visible in the upper world. In the meantime, he was also active in the underworld importing cocaine. P.’s case seemed quite big for a long time. He even turned up in the search for Bolle Jos, but that trail came to a dead end.
‘Teflon’
It started with the discovery of two mobile phone accounts from the SkyECC telephone service. That was an encrypted messaging service that was shut down by the police. Those messages were cracked and detectives read along. They also came across someone who called himself ‘Teflon’.
The stranger chatted about routes from abroad, extracting drugs and setting up stash locations. Photos sent by Teflon showed rectangular white blocks. Cocaine from Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. And payments of between 50,000 and 200,000 euros at a time.
Under the radar
Teflon did not deal in mega lots of coke. 100 kilos, 9 kilos, 7 kilos and 28 kilos. Those loads were never found. It was only chatted about.
Officers were able to get closer and closer. The mobile phones used for chatting beamed at cell towers in a certain neighborhood in Eindhoven. They were able to gauge him a little better.
In addition, the police received a specific tip. Eindhoveen resident Serafijn P. is said to have contact with Jos Leijdekkers and the Belgian drug criminal Flor B. and he is said to have weapons. “That made the suspect interesting,” said the prosecutor at the trial against P. in May this year.
The detective also noticed that this P. tried to stay under the radar. As is often the case, that doesn’t always work. When P. was busy rebooking a flight to Dubai, someone mentioned his name. “Hey, what are you doing, you idiot, don’t mention names,” P responded. There was more that pointed in his direction. The Eindhoven resident sent a selfie clearly showing his unique tattoos and he sent voice memos with his voice.
Release
P. was arrested in October 2023. But he had no coke or weapons. Research also provided no clarity about his contacts. “That has not led us to a relationship between this suspect and ‘Bolle’ Jos Leijdekkers. Not even to the firearms,” the officer stated at the trial in May this year. The investigation shed a different light on him. That is why the court released him after more than a hundred days of pre-trial detention.
There was a delay. Because the indictment concerned crimes in 2020 and 2021, a ‘deal’ was suggested. The public prosecutor and lawyer were able to reach an agreement with each other about the proceedings.
Trouble
The indictment became slightly more general and compact. “The gentleman played a significant role in the preparatory actions, which took eight months. It concerns quite a few kilos. But we do not have the impression that the gentleman is at the top of the food chain,” said the public prosecutor.
His lawyer explained that the Eindhoven resident had difficulty with the accusations. “The client is really bothered by the criminal case hanging over his head. That link with Bolle Jos, not a link that makes you very happy,” said lawyer Dekens.
Shut up
The suspect did not want to say much during his trial. Also nothing about his work as a bodyguard. He did complain about stress and is happy when everything is over.
The officer demanded a two-year prison sentence, specifically: 730 days, of which 626 days were conditional, minus pre-trial detention, and a probationary period of 2 years. That is also what the court imposed for the ‘preparation and promotion of cocaine trafficking’ and money laundering
So P. does not have to go back to jail. Because it happened about six years ago, because there are no new suspicions against him and because he seems to have his life in good order, the court writes. P. also receives 240 hours of community service and a fine of 40,000 euros.
That’s the end of the matter because the Eindhoven resident has decided not to appeal.
