The district court of Hamburg has issued an injunction against the ticket provider Viagogo AG. As a result, the company is no longer allowed to sell tickets for the upcoming Rammstein concerts next year. The injunction is based on the consumer protection regulations that were newly defined in May 2022.
Viagogo acts as a “secondary ticket market”
Viagogo AG is said to have violated the new consumer protection regulations – the court has now confirmed this, as the organizing MCT agency and Rammstein themselves report. The problem is that Viagogo acts as a “secondary ticket market” and thus sells the tickets at a price different from the original price for around 200 to 1,000 euros per ticket. In addition, the band’s official website is not mentioned or linked in any way. Attorney Sebastian Ott explains: “Buyers often do not realize that they are not buying their tickets from the organizer but on the secondary ticket market. The legislature has recognized this deficiency and acted. We are pleased that the district court of Hamburg shares our opinion and consistently prohibits violations of the new law”.
Authorized ticket seller is exclusively Eventim
All providers – apart from Eventim – are not authorized to sell tickets. Tickets purchased from these retailers will not be valid for the concert. For this reason, the following applies to Rammstein fans with immediate effect: Authorized ticket providers are exclusively Eventim. In addition, only the person whose full name is noted on the ticket will be admitted – this will be checked against an ID card. If a ticket is not personalized to the person, they will not be admitted. Furthermore, it is forbidden to pass on the tickets. If a buyer cannot appear or something similar, resale is only possible via the website distributed by Eventim fan SALE possible – and only from December 1st, 2022.
So Rammstein fans can be happy: It could be that some tickets will be available again from December. All Germany concerts for the “Europe Stadium Tour 2023” are currently sold out – including the additional shows in Munich and Berlin. A total of seven shows are planned in Germany.
