Niki Terpstra stops cycling: “Time to close this chapter”

Niki Terpstra will stop cycling at the end of the season. The 38-year-old resident of Bergen makes this known on his Instagram page. “It’s time to close this chapter of my career and focus on new challenges on and off the bike,” said Terpstra.

The North Hollander can look back on an impressive career. He won Paris-Roubaix in 2014 and the Tour of Flanders in 2018. He also took the national road title three times (2010, 2012, 2015). Recent years have been less successful, partly due to a number of serious injuries.

Not done yet

The last three seasons Terpstra drove in French service for Team TotalEnergies. However, he achieved his greatest successes in his eight years with the Belgian Quick-Step. Terpstra says that he is not yet done with cycling. It is therefore expected that he will engage in gravel biking.
