Market values Denmark: Returnees Cornelius & Wass decrease – plus for Nuamah

Intermediate update super leagues

After the end of the transfer phase, Transfermarkt subjected the market values in the Superligaen to an interim update and significantly devalued two of the most valuable newcomers. It was a big loss for both Andreas Cornelius, who returned to FC Copenhagen after five years abroad, and Daniel Wass, who returned to Brondby IF after eleven years.

Cornelius joined his youth club from Trabzonspor for €6m and is now approaching that amount in terms of market value as well. The 29-year-old attacker was only able to increase his value to 9 million euros last season, but was handed over by the Turkish champions without much resistance when Maxi Gómez (26) was about to be bought. Consequently, it is down by EUR 2 million to EUR 7 million.

The market value of Wass, who was one of the regular players at FC Valencia not so long ago, falls even further. In the last six months he was not used by Atlético Madrid after an injury and was sold to Denmark this summer for just 1.75 million euros. The move home in combination with the age of 33 made another minus – the fourth in a row – unavoidable. With now 3 million instead of the previous 6 million euros, the 43-time national player falls out of the top 10 in the league.

Two professionals known from the Bundesliga received further significant devaluations. Jonas Lössl (33), former keeper of Mainz 05 and currently active at FC Midtjylland, loses from 1 million to 700,000 euros. For Alfred Finnbogason, who moved to Lyngby BK after his contract with FC Augsburg ended, it is down by 200,000 to 500,000 euros.

While many newcomers lost value as a result of moving to a weaker league, some talents who impressed in the first weeks of the young season went uphill. For example, Ernest Nuamah has the biggest plus in the league. The 18-year-old left winger started all nine games at FC Nordsjaelland and was directly involved in six goals. Its market value goes from 150,000 to 750,000 euros.

Oscar Schwartau, who made his debut at Brondby at the age of 16 years and two months, also caused a stir, making him the fourth youngest professional since 1990/91. Its starting value is 400,000 euros.

This is how the Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are created taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the Transfermarkt community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.

The goal is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational framework conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
