The French coach is aware of his worth and leadership and the cache of having a defender like him under his orders. However, the club continues working to sign a central defender who can compete with Sergio Ramos for the position.
According to L’Équipe, Luis Campos, the new sports director of the Parisian team, has warned the Spanish soccer player of what the club’s intentions are: to sign a defender who is capable of improving the level and increase competitiveness on the defensive pitch.
The club has several options. The priority was Skriniar, but the high claims of Inter Milan, who demanded 70 million for the Slovenian center-back, meant that the negotiations did not come to fruition. Simakan, Leipzig’s French central defender, was another player on the wish list of Luis Campos, however, it seems that the center-back will continue, at least, one more year in the Bundesliga. The club, ten days after the transfer window is closed, must scan the market for a collateral center who can compete for the position with Sergio Ramos.
The Spanish central defender, who scored in the Super Cup final against Nantes, lives his best moment since he landed in France last season and he already dreams of returning to a list of Luis Enrique, with a view to the next World Cup in Qatar.
