Praga Kahn says goodbye to ‘his Ostend’

“Breakfast in Vegas on cocaine and gin…” Who can’t roar with Praga Kahn? In 1989 Maurice Engelen made his debut with Praga Kahn. But in September, the 63-year-old Limburger will stop.

“Had Rammstein in my support act”

For Maurice Engelen, Ostend is his second home and being able to say goodbye to a crowded square at the Paulusfeesten is very special. “When I see that, for example, Rammstein played here a few days ago, they started with us as support act in America. Seen a lot, done a lot and only good memories and I want to keep it that way.” (Read more below the photo)

Second home in Ostend

The bond between Engelen and Ostend is quite close, and has been around for a long time. “I also thought about it. Ostend is also somewhat my ‘second home town’. I have had a second residence in Ostend since ’93. I also know a lot of people in Ostend. Many good friends live in Ostend. I’ve already thought about it. But yes, there must always be an end.”

Praga Kahn’s performance is also quite special for the Paulusfeesten. Although we often choose other groups, says Mario Panesi. “Not to be forgotten, we also try to focus as much as possible on local anchoring. We want to give the Ostend youth and Ostend groups the opportunity to get as much attention as possible.”

The Paulusfeesten will close on Monday with a tribute evening to Arno.
