test, price and data sheet of the city scrambler

The eighth of a liter stands out for a completely personal look that mixes modern elements with classic dictates. Drivable at 16 with an A1 license, this is how it is made, how it goes and how much it costs the entry level naked from the Svartpilen range

There are three ways to deal with the traffic of the city: suffer it, standing in the queue in the car, get around the problem using a scooter, “challenge” it by riding a motorcycle. Save on consumption as a commuter urban and with style to sell, Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 is the alternative to the scooter with which to face city traffic and avoid it. Or let yourself be transported by the 125 cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke single cylinder along the hills, vineyards and the most evocative villages in Italy, perhaps stopping to take a photo of the motorcycle with its distinctive look. There naked entry level of the Svartpilen range shares with its big sister 401 design and technical solutions such as chassis, suspension and brakes, obviously differentiating itself for the engine and the possibility of being driven at 16 with an A1 license (while for the 401 you need an A2 license and 18 years of age).

Husqvarna Svartpilen 125: how it is made, the design

The deliberately spartan and in some ways essential design is what immediately catches the eye when observing the Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 for the first time. Circular elements such as the large LED headlight at the front and the instrument panel are expertly mixed with shapes and lines. more squared off, particularly evident in the tank area and along the side panels, which culminate in a reduced tail that houses a two-level seat, for the rider and any passenger. 2022 colors and graphics, with black dominating the entire bike, reflect the progressive mix of modern thinking and classic design inspired by the brand’s Swedish heritage. The semi-knobby Pirelli Scorpion Rally Str tires mounted on 17 ”rims and various types of protections give the bike a gritty and rigorous look that reflects its style inspired by urban exploration (and more).

Husqvarna Svartpilen 125: how it is made, engine and chassis

The beating heart of Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 is the liquid-cooled single-cylinder 4-stroke engine with electronic injection combined with a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is also Euro 5 approved. The maximum power – as required by law – is 15 Hp, available at 9,500 rpm, while the torque is 12 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The countershaft dampens vibrations, while the electric starter is powered by a 12 V / 8 Ah battery. The bike rests on a trellis frame: made of high-strength steel, using hydroformed tubes and robotic welding, it is designed with specific characteristics of flexibility. The chassis package is completed by the WP Apex suspension with upside-down fork 43 mm in diameter at the front and monoshock with linkage at the rear. Finally, Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 is equipped with ByBre hydraulic brake calipers combined with 320 mm perforated steel discs at the front and 230 mm at the rear. In addition, the Bosch Abs system guarantees the right level of safety in case of emergency braking. With the riding mode called “Supermoto”, the system deactivates the Abs function on the rear wheel, thus giving the rider the freedom to lock the rear wheel if necessary.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 125: how it goes, position in the saddle and technology

The riding position on Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 is natural, thanks to a high and wide handlebar and a saddle-footpeg-handlebar triangulation that allows you to have your back straight and not tilted forward. Those who exceed 180/185 cm in height, however, may find it more difficult to find the position in the saddle, touching or brushing the sides of the tank with their knees. The visible stitching embellishes the saddle, even if there is not much space for the passenger, who cannot even use handles to hold onto. It is appreciable that there are backlit handlebar buttons, useful during the night. The circular display offers a good amount of useful information while driving, but tends to lose some visibility in particularly sunny conditions. Given the price of the bike, a color TFT would have been appreciated.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 125: how it goes, chassis and engine

Handy in the city and playful in the curves thanks to a dry weight of 146 kg, Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 is appreciated for a good overall balance of the chassis and a marked agility. The WP Apex suspension is eye-catching and practical, with the 43 mm fork that absorbs holes well and lends itself to a sportier ride when you want to have fun. The Pirelli Scorpion Rally Str confirm the good things already shown on other bikes: good grip on the road and the possibility of driving on undemanding dirt roads. The round engine does not intimidate even those who collide with a motorcycle for the first time: fluid delivery, it gives its best at medium and high revs, when it expresses the maximum torque potential. With only 15 Hp available, between the curves it is necessary to keep it revved up to ensure that it is effective, while starting from the traffic light in the city it is initially a bit lazy at low revs, only to recover very well in the mediums. Tested for about seventy km between urban and extra-urban, at the end of the day Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 recorded an average of 38.8 km with only one liter of petrol, but with a slightly more careful driving it is not difficult to exceed the 40 km threshold. /L. A huge advantage with gasoline over 2 euros per liter.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 125: at a glance

Husqvarna Svartpilen 125, which shares technical solutions such as chassis, brakes and suspensions with its older sister 401, is a city scrambler to which you can give your voice from the first meters: power and torque do not put even the 16-year-old in difficulty at his first experience with a motorcycle. . Agile and maneuverable in city traffic, where it stands out for a distinctive design that combines modern concepts with the classic philosophy inspired by the Swedish heritage of the brand, it is also appreciated among the country curves. And traveling a dirt road with the naked entry level is no utopia thanks to the Pirelli Scorpion Rally Str.
