Alpine skiing: Garmisch-Partenkirchen probably back in the calendar – alpine skiing – winter sports

According to information from the German Press Agency, a new race calendar provides for three men’s races in the Upper Bavarian ski resort. These include a downhill run and a giant slalom at the end of January.

A first draft of the calendar by the international ski association Fis in the spring initially did not include the traditional Kandahar descent in the annual plan. As a result, there was heavy criticism from the German Ski Association (DSV).

Speed races for women probably no longer taken into account

In addition, the technicians around Linus Straßer are to drive a night slalom on the Gudiberg at the beginning of January – instead of the gate run in Zagreb. The two women’s speed races that were held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen last season will probably no longer be included in the revised calendar.

The final World Cup calendar is to be decided at the Fis Congress next week in Milan. The two-day meeting will also deal with the organization of the Ski World Cup 2027, for which Garmisch-Partenkirchen has applied.
