Four Hills Tournament record winner Janne Ahonen caused a sporting surprise after ski jumping retirement.
The 44-year-old, who ended his active career for the last time more than three years ago, unexpectedly took third place at the Finnish championships. Ahonen jumped 110 and 116 meters in Lahti and was only beaten by Antti Aalto and Eetu Nousiainen.
Just last week, Ahonen was still there as a TV expert on the tour in Bischofshofen and gave interviews as a former athlete. At least for large parts of the national competition, it still seems to be enough for him.
