Iltalehti found out what happens to dishes made in Masterchef Finland after the judging.

Masterchef Finland – program’s season ends today with the finale on MTV3. That’s the top three Jari, Pot and Whereby three-course dinners symbolize the cooks’ dreams.
As usual, the dishes were judged by judges Henri Alén, Helena Puolakka and Vappu Pimiä. So they get a total of nine different dishes to taste, three from each of the three competitors.
Even though the portions served are small, there is still a lot of food left on the plate after the evaluation tasting. This becomes clear, for example, in the case of a competitor’s chocolate mousse, which is especially fond of Vappu Pimiä.
– I could take this portion back here and eat even more, Pimiä admits and points to an almost full mousse plate.
Iltalehti asked the production of Masterchef Suomen what happens to the uneaten portions after filming. Producer of production company Banijay Jenny Nyroos says that the judges taste all the dishes twice: first immediately after cooking, so that the dishes can be judged warm, and again in front of the cameras.
In practice, therefore, the evaluations seen in the program are not the judges’ first reactions to the competition portions offered.
– Since the judges taste many portions during the filming day, it is not always possible to finish the entire portion. If a competitor has prepared a larger amount of food, it is often given to the team to taste. After that, leftover food goes to waste, meaning everything is recycled appropriately, Nyroos tells Iltalehte.

Vappu Pimi started as a Masterchef Finland judge this season. In the final episode, he reveals what surprised him in the show.
– When I went into this, I had high expectations. But I didn’t understand how ambitiously these competitors of ours are participating in the competition. This has really surprised me and it was great to notice, Pimiä says.
