Player open to leaving

Jens Stage is approaching the age of 31 and has just made it publicly clear that he is considering leaving SV Werder if something better comes along. These are good reasons for TSG Hoffenheim to enter into negotiations with Bremen with a low offer. The Kraichgauers seem to be a club that Stage, as he said, could find “even more attractive” than SVW. There should even be an agreement. However, according to reports, Bremen remain firm with their idea of a transfer. A change threatens to fail.

“The truth is that the plan is that this could be a transfer window in which we see if there is something that could be even more attractive to me and my family than Werder Bremen. But that doesn’t mean it will happen. It was just the plan and then we’ll see if something comes up.” Stage said this a few days ago in a media round with the Danish national team.
The Hoffenheimers, who are said to have received a promise from Stage themselves for a possible move, had already made the Bremen team an offer that they could easily reject. It is said to have been 5 million euros below market value – 9 million instead of 14 million euros. The “Bild” newspaper reported on Thursday that people on the Weser were “irritated” by such a proposal. A second offer was also inadequate for the Green-Whites. According to the newspaper, Werder has no plans to back down from his ideas. The “Deichstube” also presents it this way in its reporting.
The crux of the matter from Hoffenheim’s point of view is that Stage – based on his performance in Bremen – very likely offers added value for TSG, but given his age, he also has very little potential for a later lucrative resale. The southern Germans should therefore want to refrain from increasing the offer further. Werder therefore expects to stay. Thanks to the high income from the sale of goalkeeper Mio Backhaus (22) to Freiburg for 12 million euros, the North Germans should not have any economic pressure to generate income for Stage. This requires a “really lucrative” offer, they say.
Stage has already reached an agreement with Hoffenheim. According to the media, despite the Backhaus millions, Werder is far from investing more. That’s why you have to consider whether you should take the 10-12 million to improve the squad. We still have to make at least 5-7 transfers after the unsuccessful loans and departures!
Stage wants to change and his MW will fall if Werder fights against relegation again and everything looks like that at the moment.
Of course it will be difficult to replace him, but…
