So different, so spectacular. The Dolomites and Piazza del Duomo have few points of contact, but their beauty and exclusivity mean that they are among the symbols of Italian wonders in the world. The Maratona dles Dolomites Enel brought these two apparently distant worlds even closer: the president Michil Costa and the director of the committee Claudio Canins chose, thanks to their friendship with the CEO Pierluigi Cocchini, the exclusive terrace of the Rinascente with a view of the Madonnina to present the thirty-ninth edition of the most beautiful and desired Granfondo in the world.

the numbers

On Sunday 5 July there will be 8,000 cyclists (equally divided between Italians and foreigners, with a female share of 13.5%) at the start, scheduled as always at 6.30 from La Villa, 3 km downstream from Corvara, for a day of climbs, efforts and emotions. The Marathon knows no crisis: this year there were 32,400 requests to participate, coming from 85 different nations. Approximately 53% of the participants will participate for the first time in an increasingly engaging and exclusive event: they will have an App at their disposal that will keep them updated second by second on everything that revolves around the Marathon universe, starting from the weather, a fundamental variable when cycling at high altitude.

the topic and security

This year the Committee’s choice was more timely than ever: on the beautiful shirts, made by Castelli, the Pax wording will be displayed, “It’s easy – said Michil Costa – to talk about peace on a bicycle. We are together, we share the effort and there is a profound respect for others”. The Marathon does not lack the competitive component: the leaders of the Marathon route (138 kilometers for 4,200 meters of altitude difference) have almost professional wattages, but even more important is the issue of safety. After the obligation, introduced in 2025 and reconfirmed again this year, to leave with a cape in your pocket to wear in case of bad weather, the Kask brand through the Sponsorship & Events Manager Valentina Albani Rocchetti launches the “Be safe be cool” initiative with numerous banners along the route and the invitation to tackle the descents based on your driving skills. In memory of Alex Zanardi, a great friend of the Maratona, this year too, 400 solidarity registrations were sold and the proceeds (equal to 87,000 euros) were donated to three charities: Insieme si Pu Onlus/Ong, Fondazione Nervo Pasini and Fondazione Laureus Sport for Good.

special week

But the Marathon is not just the Sunday race. The whole week preceding it will be full of events: at the Maratona Village in Badia events, talk shows and shows. This year, among the numerous Social Rides, the Sunrise Coffee Ride is included: you cycle at dawn towards Passo Gardena, at the top waiting for the cyclists a cappuccino and a croissant. Another novelty is the after ride DJ set: from Friday at 5pm in Corvara there will be an aperitif with music organized by Musicmatch.
