Jens Härtel has found a new job. The former coach of Eintracht Braunschweig will work for Union Berlin in the future.
Three months after leaving FC Erzgebirge Aue, former Braunschweig coach Jens Härtel has found a new job. The 56-year-old will take over the U19s of 1. FC Union Berlin next season, as the Bundesliga club announced.
Before his time in Aue, Härtel had trained, among others, Eintracht Braunschweig, Hansa Rostock and 1. FC Magdeburg.
In the Berlin team, Härtel follows Marie-Louise Eta. The 34-year-old looked after the A-juniors until mid-April and was then promoted to head coach of the Bundesliga team. Härtel was already closely linked to Union as a player: the former defender played for Köpenick for five years.
According to the club, Härtel played 158 competitive games for Union Berlin between 1993 and 1996 and 1998 and 2000, scoring 26 goals. “I’m really looking forward to my new role at Union and returning to a club with which I have a lot in common,” said the Saxony native. He ended his active career in 2005.
