Three WNL colleagues were allowed to audition: Welmoed Sijtsma, Sam Hagens and Frank van Leeuwen. RTL wanted to test all three of them as talk show hosts, but in the end the choice fell on the woman of the company. She will switch to RTL this fall and will no longer be seen as a presenter of Goedemorgen Nederland from then on.

Wink

Welmoed will have her own talk show on RTL 4 from the beginning of 2027. “This will make her, alongside Renze Klamer, one of the regular faces of the late evening. The new program offers a fresh and sharp combination of the current affairs of the day and a relaxed evening atmosphere,” explains a spokesperson for the channel.

“With Welmoed, RTL has opted for a talk show that sits on top of the news, with room for depth and a wink. Sijtsma is known for her open and curious interview style, with which she makes difficult issues understandable and provides a program that the viewer likes to end the day with.”

Own signature

Peter Lubbers, the new TV boss of RTL, is lyrical about it. “We are extremely happy with the arrival of Welmoed. She brings exactly what we are looking for in the late evening: journalistic sharpness and a strong personal signature. She goes for the real question, is not afraid of inconvenience, but also never loses the connection.”

“With Welmoed we add a powerful journalistic profile to RTL 4, with the energy that suits us. It informs the viewer about the day, but also ensures that you go to bed with a smile.”

Fantastic

Welmoed is also very happy himself. “For me, this feels like a fantastic next step. I had a wonderful, educational time at WNL and am grateful for the opportunities I have been given. At RTL I can further develop my love for journalism and live television on a new stage and I am very much looking forward to that!”

Welmoed Sijtsma’s new talk show can be seen on RTL 4 from early 2027. More about the exact content and broadcast times will be announced soon.
