Villa & scream landscape designer Christina Walden foretells a jungle of rules before he’s even seen one Tiina’s and Kallen second home in Hanko. It is a historical object built in 1890 in the block of wooden houses.
There are enough rules, even if the purpose is to renovate only a small yard, not the interior at all. In the end, there are so many restrictions that almost all of the residents’ wishes cannot be fulfilled. For example, there won’t be a new pergola, even though there was one in the past. It just flew away in an autumn storm.
– I assumed it was Jykevä and a weatherproof pergola, Kalle commented on TV after the unveiling, when the structure was not found in the yard.

There is a reason for not having a pergola.
– Various canopies made it to the permit jungle. In other words, the wish was for a living canopy that would have been fixed and covered. It was eliminated. Then here was the wish for a bike shelter that would have been fixed and covered. That was also eliminated, Christina explains in the program.
– I have to say that this time the designer is excited to return this, because as a whole, the wishes that were aimed at this will be exhausted quite a lot, he admits.
In the change, there will be two entrances to the yard. The first comes from the street to the parking lot and the second from the parking lot to the actual yard. There are actually three entrances, because there is access to the yard from two different places. Message
The designer tells Tiina and Kalle that almost everything that has been possible in terms of permits has been done. For example, according to him, there is a large burdensome area in the parking lot area, where nothing is allowed to be built. The building is also protected in the plan, and the Finnish Museum Agency decides, among other things, about the yard fences.
When the building regulations do not allow the desired canopies, Christina comes up with the idea of replacing them with awnings. According to the residents, it is a well-implemented and light solution.
– It doesn’t bother me at all, on the contrary. An awning can be more versatile when you can roll it out and then put it up in the weather when you need it, Kalle reasons on TV.

During the renovation, the parking lot can still be cleaned and tidied up. A view barrier to the backyard increases privacy. Message
