Imagine: a goal is scored – and while the ball is still fidgeting in the net, you can hear how it happened. Live. Told by an AI.
For the 2026 World Cup, we are launching something on sport.de that has never been done before: AI-based live audio reporting. AI agents follow a game in real time, analyze what is happening and comment directly – minute by minute, while everything is happening on the pitch.
Whether you’re cooking, in the car or playing a second game on the second screen: you press play and you’re right in the middle of it. Not a replacement for the great voices of sport – but an additional way to experience football (and soon other sports) in a new way and, above all, to hear.
And that’s just the beginning: There are more formats to listen to and even actively participate in. We want you to be there from the first minute.
Impressive – and to be honest, not yet perfect
The technology is already strong, but not yet error-free. Sometimes a player name is confused, sometimes a wording sounds unusual. That’s part of it – and that’s exactly what makes it exciting.
Because you can experience the development live. Your feedback, your curiosity and your participation make this new form of reporting a little better with every game. All of us – humans and AI commentators alike – learn with every kick-off.
So don’t see the whole thing as a finished product, but rather as a brave attempt to try something new for the World Cup. We are happy about every amazement, every suggestion, every smile – and about your understanding when things don’t go smoothly.
That’s how you’re there
Listen in from the first World Cup game – you can find the live audio coverage right here on sport.de. Let’s kick off the first half of this journey together.
