Employees at the Envalior plastics factory in Emmen will stop work for three hours tomorrow. The strike is one of the actions they are taking for a good collective labor agreement.
Campaigning employees will gather at the company gate around noon where speeches will be given, among other things.
According to the FNV trade union, the company refuses to agree on fixed steps for the wage structure. A system that allows employees to move up a step every year and be rewarded for experience gained.
The plastics factory wants to agree on a new reward system instead. But according to the FNV, the basis is lower in that system, which means that employees even make concessions in the first instance.
The FNV also demands a pay increase of at least 6 percent (as of December 2025) on behalf of the employees. Instead of the 2 percent that the company will add as of January 2026. In addition, the union wants salaries to rise in line with the increase in prices in stores.
Trade union director Joosje de Lang of the FNV explains that the company’s management did nothing with the ultimatum that expired on Friday. “Their response was they’re not going to respond,” she says. She states that the employees don’t ask anything crazy. “Only appreciation for their work and security for the future.”
The company employs around 500 people, spread over factories in Emmen and Geleen. The plastics factory produces sustainable and high-performance plastics that are delivered worldwide. The products are used in the automotive industry, building, construction and electronics.
Later this week there will also be promotions at the factory in Geleen.
