Bacon and Nygård were neighbors in the Bahamas, and they had a dispute about, for example, how the waterfront areas of the properties should be used. The dispute has lasted for years, and during that time Nygård has spread various claims about Bacon. Among other things, Nygård claimed that Bacon belonged to the Ku Klux Klan, and that he was a supporter of white supremacy, a murderer and a drug dealer.

Nygård and Bacon have filed more than 25 lawsuits against each other over the decades.
Nygård’s lawyer By Peter Sverdin according to Nygård, he plans to continue processing the case and plans to appeal the verdict.
In September 2024, Nygård was sentenced to 11 years in prison for four sex crimes in Canada. The victims of sexual crimes have been three women and one 16-year-old girl.
