The out-of-form ski jumpers Andreas Wellinger and Karl Geiger remain in the German squad for the final two competitions of the 74th Four Hills Tournament in Austria. National coach Stefan Horngacher announced this on Friday morning in the team hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The DSV team for the competitions in Innsbruck on Sunday and Bischofshofen on Tuesday also includes fourth-placed Felix Hoffmann, sixth-placed Philipp Raimund and Pius Paschke.

“It was clear from the start that nothing big was to be expected from the tour,” said Horngacher about the veterans, who completed training jumps on the large Olympic hill in Partenkirchen on Friday, “but the process is ongoing. They are on the right track. What is important now is the development towards the Ski Flying World Championships and the Olympics.”

Olympic champion Wellinger, who was runner-up on the tour two years ago, only took 48th and 32nd place in the competitions in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The five-time world champion Geiger, who had already finished the tour on the podium twice, came 33rd after missing qualification for the first competition on New Year’s Day.
