Liverpool FC honors the late Diogo Jota with a special gesture. His sons accompany the captain onto the field during the game against Wolves.

Ahead of the Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool FC staged a moving tribute to the late Diogo Jota. His sons Dinis and Duarte accompanied captain Virgil van Dijk onto the pitch at Anfield. They were accompanied by other children from the family. The gesture came as part of the first meeting between the two clubs since Jota’s tragic accidental death.

Earlier, a mural honoring the Portuguese striker was unveiled near the stadium. It shows Jota forming his hands into a heart with the inscription “Forever 20”. This number, Jota’s shirt number, is no longer given out at Liverpool FC after his death.

Jota’s widow, Rute Cardoso, and her two sons had already attended the Premier League opening games in Liverpool and Wolverhampton in August. The striker died along with his brother in a car accident in Spain in July. He was 28 years old.
