FC Bayern is apparently considering a concession to extend Dayot Upamecano’s contract. According to information from “Bild”, the German record champions could grant the central defender an exit clause. The Frenchman is said to have been insisting on this with his advisor for a long time, and the point at which this option could be activated was also discussed.
The Upamecano camp is said to insist on a clause from 2027. It is said that Bayern were only willing to talk from 2028 onwards, but are now willing to give in to the demand for a signature after months of negotiations. According to “tz” and “Bild”, this should be around 65 million euros and therefore in the range of the 27-year-old’s market value of 70 million euros. In the latest Bundesliga update, Upamecano received a plus of 10 million euros, making him one of the top five most valuable central defenders in the world. He is currently still the most highly valued player with an ending working paper.
The great competition is said to have led to a rethink among the people of Munich. Top clubs such as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also courting the French international, possibly with generous hand money. Bayern, on the other hand, are fighting not to lose their protégé for free after paying a transfer fee of 42.5 million euros for him in 2021.
