The podcast by Fred van Leer and Richard Groenendijk has taken off considerably this year: thanks to fragments that viral took to social media, the two have built up quite a fan base. A fan base of ordinary people who, unlike Fred and Richard, sometimes have difficulty tying the strings together.

Yet Fred and Richard now force their non-wealthy supporters to pay ten euros a month for their hysterical chatter if they want to continue listening. The official reason is that they no longer want to express advertising messages in their podcast, the real reason is of course that they want to cash in hard at Podimo.
Podimo is the paid podcast service that has exclusively secured the duo: from one day to the next, the gentlemen could no longer be viewed and listened to via free channels such as Spotify and YouTube this month. The loyal supporters were faced with a sudden surprise and feel a bit used by the gentlemen, as is evident from the flood of reactions.
Shame
It is truly unprecedented how many negative reactions the greedy Fred and Richard receive on their own socials. They also feel fooled by the two’s promotional talk. “The first months for 1 euro, and after that??? I think it’s a shame that it now has to be paid 😢,” says one Heidi.
After that it costs 10 euros (!) per month. For Fred and Richard this is next to nothing, but for their target group it is quite an amount. “It’s a shame that all the nice things have to be paid for… And that’s a shame for people with a small wallet, and after four years of being sick at home, I’ve already experienced so many regrets,” says a certain Joery.

Caroline warns other fans that the promotional trick of three months for a euro is wrong. “That’s not good, I immediately received a debit of 9.99 even though I did it this way. If I had already had enough, then I didn’t. Enjoyed you guys, but not like that!!!!”
