Nothing came of the fifth win in a row in the home stadium. TSV 1860 Munich said goodbye to the Christmas break on matchday 19 with a 2-0 defeat. “We weren’t good enough today,” admitted coach Markus Kauczinski after the duel against SC Verl. However, he sees the Lions on the right track. Miracle candles instead of miracle goals for the Lions
Shortly after the restart, the fans created a celebratory atmosphere in the Grünwald stadium with sparklers. However, that was gone when Thore Jacobsen saw the yellow-red card in the 55th minute. After the 28-year-old’s tough start against Yari Otto, the home team had to survive outnumbered for a good 35 minutes. The TSV recovered and was even close to equalizing shortly afterwards. Philipp Maier (58th) artistically volleyed the ball, but fired the shot just wide to the left. Teammate Alessio Besio (76′) was more successful. He appeared alone in front of Thomas Dähne and successfully outflanked him. The score turned to 0:2 for the guests. Nothing changed until the final whistle. Verl deservedly took home the threesome.
