Florian Lipowitz was able to impress straight away at the Tour de France. Now the future of Germany’s cycling hopes has been clarified.
The German cycling star Florian Lipowitz will remain with the top team “Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe” in the future. The third in this year’s Tour de France agreed on a “long-term” extension of the cooperation with the Raubling racing team.
Team boss Ralph Denk announced Florian Lipowitz’s contract extension on Wednesday during the training camp in Mallorca. Lipowitz reached the podium in Paris on his debut at the Tour de France and is pleased to be continuing his career with “Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe”. “I’m super happy to continue with this team. We have a special relationship. I’m looking forward to the next few years,” said Lipowitz.
Denk praised the young star’s “phenomenal” development and sees him as an integral part of the team. Lipowitz’s return to the Tour de France is firmly planned for the coming season. There he will form a dual leadership team with Remco Evenepoel, who has joined the team as a star newcomer. Lipowitz sees this as a strategic strength: “It’s good to go to the tour with two leaders. Together we can play our cards differently,” said the professional cyclist.
Remco Evenepoel was also pleased about future cooperation with Lipowitz, but emphasized that it was still too early to discuss possible tactics. Veteran star Primož Roglič is scheduled to be captain at the Vuelta in Spain and will fight for his fifth overall victory there.
