Marina Hegering is a key player at 1. FC Köln. But the Bundesliga club will have to replan in the near future.
1. FC Cologne has to do without its defense chief. Captain Marina Hegering has sustained a shoulder injury and is undergoing surgery. The club announced this on Monday.
The club left it open how long Hegering will be missing. However, it will not be available for a “long period of time,” it said. A return is not expected until the new year at the earliest.
The 33-year-old moved from VfL Wolfsburg to Cologne in the summer and immediately took on a leadership role. She was already missing from the 1-1 draw in Bremen on Sunday after being examined more closely after the cup exit at SC Sand (2-3).
Cologne still has games against Hamburger SV, Carl Zeiss Jena and RB Leipzig on the program until the turn of the year.
