The 2026 Darts World Cup is getting closer and closer. Who will secure the record prize money of one million pounds in “Ally Pally”? Wayne Mardle dared to make an initial prediction with a view to the possible final pairing.

The Darts World Cup 2026 (from December 11th) will be record-breaking. With 128 starters, the field is larger than ever before. In addition, a total of five million pounds will be paid out; for the first time, one million pounds (around 1.13 million euros) will be awarded for the title.

“There are maybe seven, eight, nine players who [das Turnier] can win,” said darts expert Wayne Mardle on “Sky Sports”.

The road to the final is a long one. Mardle is betting on the last two World Cup winners: Luke Littler and Luke Humphries. The two Englishmen are the two stars who need to be beaten, said the ex-professional.

“I predict that there will be a final between Luke and Luke – boring, but that’s how it is, because they are clearly superior to the others,” said Mardle, justifying a tip for the Darts World Cup.

Humphries wants revenge at the 2026 World Darts Championship

In fact, Littler and Humphries dominated the season. Most recently, both Englishmen faced each other in the final of the Grand Slam of Darts – with the better ending for “The Nuke”.

Humphries announced revenge on stage immediately afterwards. “I’m going to win the World Cup,” said “Cool Hand Luke.”

“He and I will definitely fight for it,” Littler responded to his long-time rival’s announcement. “Everyone’s eye is on the million pounds, I’m sure Luke wants to reclaim his world title and I myself want to defend my title. I think the money is probably the last thing on our minds because world titles like this don’t come around very often,” said the 18-year-old.

Before the Darts World Cup 2026, the dress rehearsal is on the program from Friday with the Players Championship Finals.
