Singer Erika Vikman has received an invitation to the President of the Republic’s Independence Day reception.
Vikman tells about it in his Instagram post.
– An invitation to Linna’s party has never been a matter of course for me. I believe that the singer dressed in leather surfing on a gigantic mic stand in the middle of the European airspace, sharing the explosive joyous message of pleasure and thus redeeming Finland’s 4th best Eurovision ranking, is the reason for this, Vikman writes.
If you don’t see the publication, you can view it from this link.
In his publication, Vikman explains why the invitation feels special to him.
– There are many Finnish artists who have not received an invitation over the years – not because they have not done significant work or enjoyed the popularity of the people, but because they have not been considered “to be taken seriously”, Vikman writes.
– Their art or appearance has not fit the mold of “respectable” artists. And yet the people have loved them.
Vikman says that he wants to dedicate his invitation to everyone who has not been taken seriously.
– I am truly very grateful for this invitation – not only for myself, but because it speaks of a time that is perhaps finally changing and we get to be exactly as we are, to be seen and appreciated.
Vikman ends his publication by referring to his Eurovision hit.
– Thank you for the invitation President Stubb, ICH KOMME! Vikman decides.
