The title race in Formula 1 is becoming more and more exciting. Lando Norris is only one point ahead of his McLaren colleague Oscar Piastri in the drivers’ standings. Defending champion Max Verstappen is lurking behind. An F1 expert believes the Red Bull superstar will take the world championship crown again.
Max Verstappen is 36 points behind leader Norris in Formula 1 before the Brazilian Grand Prix. There are still four races and two sprints left until the end of the season (The sprint from Sao Paulo will be available live on RTL+ on Saturday from 2:15 p.m*) on the program.
Verstappen won three of the last five races in Formula 1 – and is therefore hoping for his fifth world title in a row.
F1 expert Timo Glock believes the Dutchman can catch up. “My tip for the Drivers’ World Championship is Max Verstappen. Why? Because he is the strongest mentally and in all conditions,” said the 43-year-old on “Sky”.
Verstappen sees no pressure in Formula 1
“For me there is no pressure,” said Verstappen himself on Thursday in a media round at the Autódromo Jose Pace in Sao Paulo about the current situation in the drivers’ championship.
“We probably need a bit of luck,” said the 28-year-old regarding his World Cup chances and added: “I don’t know whether it will be enough at the end of the year, but I don’t have much to lose.”
“Even if I don’t [den Titel] “If I win, I know that I’ve had a really good season,” emphasized Verstappen.
Ralf Schumacher tips on Norris
Meanwhile, Ralf Schumacher is tipping Norris as the next world champion. “But it is harder than ever to predict,” added the “Sky” expert.
The upcoming weekend in Brazil “could be crucial. If Max can fight back, then it will be super exciting. I almost don’t dare say anything now. Norris is in a really good mood, but Verstappen is waiting for his chance,” said Schumacher.
