Private boss Evert Santegoeds, who wrote a flopped book about this case, cannot imagine it. “Mary has of course experienced the mother and the girl many times. He continues in the podcast Strictly Private: “The entire family has been through a lot with the mother and the girl, so when something like that is said… Whether Mary interfered with it, I actually wonder, because I don’t believe Mary interfered with that matter at all.”
What does Mary say?
Evert doesn’t rule it out. “Behind the scenes, that could have been the case in the beginning. But I don’t know Johan’s informant and I don’t know how he got that information. It’s very new to me and it doesn’t sound very credible to me, I must say, because Mary has kept very far away from that affair.”
Colleague Jordi Versteegden: “To be clear: we have asked Mary for a response, but we also understand that she has very different things on her mind at the moment.”

So Mary does not want to say anything about Johan’s accusations. What is she so busy with? “Yes, the sale of the White Marquis of course, right?”, says Evert.
Mary’s bridal fashion store is closing. “She is now 80 and the store will close at the end of the year. She is now spending the last weeks of her life’s work in that shop in Alkmaar.”
