The most interesting game of the day
The battle for the Veikkausliiga victory is extremely even this season – at least until tonight.
The battle will be concentrated in the final round (9.11. Inter–Ilves, HJK–KuPS and SJK–Gnistan), if Ilves manages to beat SJK at home today. In that case, before the last games, KuPS would have 64 points and a goal difference of +26, and Ilves would have 62 points and a goal difference of at least +26 (depending on the size of tonight’s possible victory).
However, Ilves has scored more goals, so with a win today, Ilves would secure its championship even if the points are tied after the final round. This would end with KuPS playing a draw with HJK and Ilves at the same time beating Inter in Turku. Same in short; Ilves is facing a must-win today if it wants to catch up with the Veikkausliiga winning post this season. If Ilves doesn’t win today, KuPS will celebrate the championship.
On the other hand, SJK’s maximums are at this stage no longer in the silver medal, but in general they also absolutely need a win today to be in the top three.
SJK’s tactics in recent games have been characterized by taking offensive risks even at the expense of defense. The same line will certainly continue today as well.
