The Meilandjes say goodbye to Chateau Meiland after all these years, but are open to a new TV format. What kind of program would be a good fit for them? “Hotter Than My Daughter!”
Martien Meiland and his family are tired of being followed by cameras. Their Chateau Meiland program will come to an end after the current series and the Christmas special. However, the family members are open to a new format. According to them, we will only see them on television again if something comes along that really appeals to them.
About the floor
TV critic Victor Vlam thinks that a move to RTL is not an option anyway, so: “I think SBS should just think carefully about a new format. For example, you can watch a program like Over De Vloer. That was brought back last year with André Hazes and Mart Hoogkamer.”
He continues in the podcast Victor Indicates TV: “Well, why couldn’t you do that with Martien Meiland and Erica? That would actually be a pretty good option.”
Hotter Daughter
What else could be possible? Victor: “You can also think of a program like Extreme Make-over: Home Edition. That is a program that has been shown in the past and interior design is something that Martien has something to do with and that is a program that scores quite well internationally. That might work for Martien.”
He continues: “You can also think of a program like Hotter Than My Daughter, which Gordon has done in the past. Patty Brard has also done that and that is also a program that I see Martien doing. There are formats that suit him.”
‘Works well’
Victor believes in it. “In the past you have also seen that Chateau Bijstand, which is actually just what the Frogers did, is a format that deviated from the standard format of Chateau Meiland, and that also worked well in terms of viewing figures.”
“A studio show has not proven successful in the past, with Who of the Three as an exception. Many things he has done as a presenter did not work because it was simply not good. He simply cannot do that, but a reality-like format should work and they at Talpa should just think about that.”
