Because of the events surrounding Nexperia and the associated risks for the supply chain, Mercedes-Benz is warning of the impact on the entire automotive industry.

“The entire industry is affected. We are monitoring developments closely and are in communication with the relevant stakeholders,” said the DAX group. It is currently difficult to make reliable forecasts.

The Dutch government took control of the Dutch chip manufacturer Nexperia from its Chinese owner. The Hague referred to risks to economic security. Nexperia is an important global supplier of semiconductors, which are often used, for example, in electronic control units in vehicle electronic systems.

Mercedes-Benz is protected in the short term due, among other things, to “good partnership relationships” with suppliers, the Stuttgart group continues. “We are working intensively with our partners to close any gaps that may arise,” said Mercedes-Benz.

In the XETRA business, Mercedes-Benz shares temporarily fell by 2.79 percent to 52.66 euros in the middle of the week.
