“Hölderlin” by André Butzer combines 47 poems by the famous poet from his “Seasons” cycle with 40 newly designed watercolors. A poetic edition that combines poetry and painting. These symbolically connect the cycle of the seasons with the human journey through life.

Butzer is one of the most famous German painters of today. He has been working artistically through the extremes of the 20th century for more than 25 years. According to his own statements, paintings are “localizations of extreme need and hope”. After several years in California, he now lives in Berlin.

But still in the sun-drenched distance, Butzer discovered Friedrich Hölderlin’s “Hyperion”. “As I read it, I felt like I understood every word. I thought these words came from me.” So now a bow to a kindred spirit artist.

André Butzer will sign his book in the TASCHEN Store Berlin on November 1st from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Star actor Lars Eidinger will read from Hölderlin’s “Seasons” poems. ROLLING STONE readers are cordially invited.
