The Jena team wanted to get their first win of the season against the winless newcomers 1. FC Nürnberg. But after two goalkeeper mistakes, the Bundesliga footballers came away empty-handed again. The FCC was unlucky in stoppage time.
The FC Carl Zeiss Jena footballers suffered their third home defeat. The first win of the season was also not achieved against the so far winless guests from 1. FC Nürnberg. The club was more effective and won 3:2 (1:1) in Jena. Oliwia Wos gave the guests the lead with a directly converted corner (26′), before Nike Andersson (45’+2) equalized. Nastassja Lein (60th) and Sanja Homann (70th) increased for Nuremberg. Jena was able to shorten the score again thanks to a penalty from Isabella Jaron (80th).
The duel between the teams without a win so far began with a clear advantage for the promoted team from Franconia, who were much more present in the duels. So the lead was deserved. Wos circled the corner directly over the unfortunate Jena goalkeeper Hannah Etzold into the far corner, where Felicia Sträßer tried to clear but only headed the ball under the crossbar. Jena then equalized: Nike Andersson shot from a good 25 meters, and Laura Miller decisively deflected the actually harmless shot.
Noemi Gentile (right) and FC Carl Zeiss initially found it difficult to get into the encounter.
Jena almost came back after the 1:3
After the substitution, Lein (60th) picked up a through pass from Aneta Polaskova, went around the goalkeeper and pushed in safely. Then Homann (70th) took advantage of an unsuccessful break from goalkeeper Etzold from a good 40 meters. The 20-year-old came to Thuringia from Nuremberg before this season. After a handball from the spot, Jena was only able to shorten the score thanks to Jaron (79′). Jaron had a possible equalizer in sight with a free kick from the left side in stoppage time: But Wos headed the ball off the line for her already beaten goalkeeper.
